Caitlin Clark issues response to outside concern amid Fever drama

The vibe is good for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever after they beat the Atlanta Dream, 83-71, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday. The Fever arrested a two-game skid and improved to 5-4.

The victory was a much-needed morale-booster following the sideline spat between Clark and coach Stephanie White, which dominated the news cycle in the WNBA.

Clark and White did not consider their heated exchange a big deal, noting that it was simply part of their competitive nature. They maintained that their relationship was great, even sharing a hug in the third quarter against the Dream.

The 24-year-old Clark, who had 17 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists against the Dream, reiterated that there is nothing to worry about.

“A lot of people have called and asked how I am? I said, ‘What do you mean, I’m great!’ I did a lot of self-reflection for everybody. Look at yourself in the mirror and find ways to get better. That’s what I did,” said the two-time All-Star in the video posted by ESPN’s Kareem Copeland.

“One of the best pieces of advice I ever got in life is everything’s a two-day story.”

The 48-year-old White lamented the double standard amid all the chatter regarding her viral altercation with Clark.

The former Rookie of the Year added that she is more focused on helping the Fever climb the ladder than bothering herself with the outside noise.

“For us (Fever), it’s take it a day at a time. But personally, I’m doing great. I don’t really read that stuff. I know everybody can have their opinion, and people make me aware—I have to be aware of things that are going on. But I’m not sitting on Twitter or social media reading those things,” said Clark.

“Obviously, everybody’s entitled to their opinion, but I think the opinions I care about are of my teammates, people in the locker room, the front office, the organization, my family, and my friends.”

Clark is averaging 19.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.1 steals.
