Bryson DeChambeau withdraws from LIV Golf Mexico City to cap frustrating week

Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from LIV Golf Mexico City due to a wrist injury.

The American, a two-time winner so far this season, was sitting two over par and 16 strokes behind third-round leader Jon Rahm, ahead of the final round.

“I experienced some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday’s round and have decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury,” DeChambeau shared in a statement Sunday.

“Not how I wanted this week to go, but wishing the Crushers a strong finish.

“I’m going to take a few days to get evaluated and hope to be ready for LIV Golf Virginia.”

DeChambeau was off the leading pace at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City, having followed back-to-back 71s with a two-over 73 on Saturday.

The Crushers GC captain had vocalized frustrations with the course on Thursday.

On the 16th hole, DeChambeau sent his ball into the rough and discovered his lie was caught between exposed mud and a tuft of grass after a wayward shot from the bunker, which sent him into a fit of rage.

“You got destroyed grass… oh, this is rough?” cameras caught him saying.

His meltdown came days after a disappointing outing at the 2026 Masters, and capped a tough week for LIV Golf, with speculation funding for the league could soon be pulled.
