Bruno Fernandes labelled greatest Man United player in post-Fergie era as he equals assist record
Bruno Fernandes made history during Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest with his 20th assist of the season.
The attacking midfielder is now level with Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry for most assists in a Premier League season with a game to go.

It came as he drove down the right and smashed a ball across the box that Bryan Mbeumo tapped home.
Mbeumo headed straight over to his captain to celebrate with him, and he was joined by all of his outfield teammates.
And after the goal, talkSPORT commentator Sam Matterface dubbed Fernandes the greatest player to represent Man United since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Matterface said: “He’s got it. He has got it.
“It’s absolutely fantastic for Manchester United because Bruno Fernandes has his record-equalling assist.
“No one has ever produced more assists in a Premier League season than Bruno Fernandes.
“Everyone is celebrating Bruno, and it’s 20 assists for the greatest player in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
“He hits the milestone, and there is every chance he might well break that record.”
Former Man United captain Steve Bruce added on commentary: “He’s smashed it across.
“I’ve said it often enough about how important Bruno is, and we’ve just seen it again. It’s a wonderful pass.”

And speaking after the game to talkSPORT, Fernandes said: “We are talking about two of the best players that the Premier League has ever seen.
“I am very happy to be in their company with this assists record because it’s not easy.”
In terms of breaking the record, Matterface asked Fernandes if he was frustrated it didn’t happen today.
To which Fernandes responded: “No, I am not. I am very happy that Bryan got back to scoring – that is more important than me breaking the record.
“I wanted to break the record and serve my teammates because that is what my game is about.
“I created a lot, as I have in many other games, and it is one of the best qualities I have.”

Big future
Man United are set to appoint Michael Carrick as their permanent manager after a successful interim run.
The Red Devils will be back in the Champions League next season and are looking at a big summer.
Casemiro is leaving, and they are open to offers for Manuel Ugarte.
So, two new midfielders are being targeted, and Fernandes demands success for Man United.
He said: “I want the club to succeed. I want the club to be winning trophies, and I will never hide from that.
“I want to win the Premier League. I want to win the Champions League. I want to win everything, and I will always try my best to make the most of it.
“That is in the Man United DNA. I know we haven’t won the league for so many years, but we still hold the record for most English top-flight titles, so that is still part of the club, and anyone who joins has to understand that.”
