Brewers lose pitcher to IL before Cardinals clash

The Milwaukee Brewers are gearing up for their second game of a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. But before first pitch, the Brewers were forced to shake up their roster due to injury.

Right-handed pitcher Logan Henderson has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a low back strain, the team announced. In turn, fellow right-hander Coleman Crow has been recalled from Triple-A.

Henderson last pitched for the Brewers on Friday, picking up a win against the Los Angeles Dodgers by throwing five innings of scoreless baseball, striking out seven in the process. However, after the game, the righty began experiencing back stiffness. Once more tests were done and the Brewers were given more information, Henderson was forced to take a trip to the IL.

His loss will be a major blow for a Milwaukee team looking to defend their NL Central title. Over his five starts in 2026, Henderson holds a 2.74 ERA and a 30/6 K/BB ratio. The right-hander has continued his strong MLB start after putting up a 1.78 ERA and a 33/8 K/BB ratio over his first five major league starts in 2025.

Entering Tuesday’s matchup against the Cardinals, the Brewers rank fourth in the league with a collective 3.25 ERA. While he has only made six starts, Henderson is just another example of Milwaukee’s pitching strength.

Now, he won’t be at the Brewers’ disposal for the foreseeable future though. Milwaukee will be cautious with Henderson and will be monitoring him closely. With their eyes on a deep playoff run, the last thing they want is a setback.
