Brewers’ Christian Yelich lands on IL with groin injury
Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich recently suffered an injury scare in a game over the weekend. On Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com provided an update on the situation, reporting that Yelich is being placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain.
“Update to the Christian Yelich injury suffered Sunday against the Nationals: It’s a left groin strain, and he has been placed on the 10-day injured just. The Brewers called up infielder/outfielder Greg Jones to take Yelich’s place and Rob (Zastryzny) to the 60-day IL,” McCalvy reported.
Yelich was hitting .314/.375/.451 with a home run and two doubles before suffering the injury. A timeline for his return has yet to be revealed. Christian Yelich’s presence on the field will certainly be missed by Milwaukee during his injury absence.
The Brewers hold an 8-7 overall record so far this season. They are in third place in the National League Central division. After finishing with the best regular season record in all of baseball a season ago, the Brewers have not looked as strong so far in 2026. There is plenty of time to find their rhythm. Accomplishing that feat without Yelich will prove to be a challenge, however.
Milwaukee is set to begin a three-game series at home with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. It projects to be a competitive series. Tuesday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST.
As far as Christian Yelich’s injury is concerned, updates will continue to be monitored and provided on his status as they are made available.
