Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions
After back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League, it is essential that Tottenham Hotspur kick on this season.
Last term was a disaster for Spurs. They had finished fourth-bottom the year before, but relegation was never a serious concern and the north Londoners also won the Europa League, their first trophy since 2008.
There were no such silver linings in 2025/26. Tottenham did not do much in the Champions League, and they only secured Premier League survival on the final day.
Their manager for the all-important 1-0 victory over Everton on matchday 38 was Roberto De Zerbi, the third different head coach to lead Spurs last season.
De Zerbi fulfilled his remit by keeping the north Londoners up. Now he is aiming to lead them up the division and back into Europe.
Tottenham have put their money where the confident De Zerbi’s mouth is, spending £237m on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also arrived as free transfers.
Brentford will be looking to continue punching above their weight this season. A ninth-place finish was a fine achievement in Keith Andrews’ debut campaign last time out, and the Bees are eyeing another top-half berth in 2026/27.
Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur tips
Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford.
Will Tottenham triumph?
This is not an easy start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur, but Roberto De Zerbi’s team have what it takes to triumph at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Spurs improved under the Italian at the back end of the last campaign and they should progress further in the weeks and months ahead.
The squad remains imperfect, but there is no doubt it is stronger now than it was a few months back. Djed Spence and Cristian Romero have departed, but neither defender would have been a guaranteed starter this term anyway.
Tottenham can start the new season with a bang by winning this London derby.
Tip Tottenham Hotspur to win at 15/8 with SBK
Expect tight game
Although Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their squad over the summer, another couple of attackers would not go amiss in the final couple of weeks of the window.
As things stand, Tottenham may struggle to score enough goals to qualify for the Champions League.
The defence is capable of keeping clean sheets at least, so Spurs may have to lean on their backline on Saturday.
Brentford will not want to give much away either. This promises to be an engaging contest, but goals may well be in short supply.

Fernandes must step up
The absence of James Maddison for virtually the entirety of last season made things tougher for Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international’s creativity and guile was missed, as was his personality on the pitch. He is fit again now, but probably not sufficiently so to start on Saturday.
Over to you, Mateus Fernandes. The £85m signing from West Ham United will need to hit the ground running given Maddison’s lack of match fitness.
He is not the most likely goalscorer on Saturday, but it is worth a punt on Fernandes finding the back of the net against Brentford.
