Bologna head into Thursday’s fixture having won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions, suffering four defeats in that time including a 2-1 home defeat against a Fiorentina side in the relegation zone on Sunday afternoon.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side’s slump in form has seen them drop down to eighth in Serie A, with recent home results being a big issue having picked up just one point from their last five league games in front of their home fans.

However, the Italian’s side European form has been impressive of late, winning three of their last four matches to land themselves in a strong position, currently in 13th place but only two points off the top eight.

Thursday’s match will be the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides.
