Blake Snell gives Dodgers fans progress report after 3-inning start vs. Braves

The Los Angeles Dodgers saw the return of starting pitcher Blake Snell on Saturday night. Although Snell didn’t have a very successful outing on the mound, he is happy to be back pitching with the team.

“I feel really good, stuff is really good… got a lot of work to do,” Snell said afterward, per SportsNet LA.

Snell lasted just three innings in his first start of the season. L.A. bowed to the Atlanta Braves, 7-2. Snell allowed four earned runs and six hits in his outing.

“Being able to start to read swings and what people are thinking and doing is getting better, so excited about that,” Snell added. “A lot to break down.”

Snell has battled shoulder fatigue for several months. The veteran says his injury issues have caused him to make some lifestyle changes, so he can keep pitching.

“A lot of my injuries have been inflammation based. I am getting a little older. I have got to be a little more wiser, so a nutritionist and a chef….pilates has really helped me a lot,” Snell said.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was happy to see Snell back. Snell was able to average 95.9 miles per hour with his fastball on Saturday.

“Certainly this time of year, the most important thing is guys’ stuff is good, they’re healthy,” Roberts said, per MLB.com. “And in Blake’s case, just kind of getting back into a Major League game and knowing that the stuff is still good, the stuff still plays.”

During the 2025 season, Snell helped the Dodgers win the World Series. He posted a 2.35 ERA and helped anchor a rotation that included Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Dodgers fans hope Snell can once again help the club reach the Fall Classic.

Los Angeles is now 24-15 on the season after Saturday’s loss. The Dodgers still lead the National League West. L.A. plays the Braves again on Sunday.
