Bills’ Dalton Kincaid explains why he opted against knee surgery for PCL injury
With the Buffalo Bills’ 2026 schedule released, the team now prepares for the season after a disappointing exit in the playoffs, losing to the Denver Broncos in the wild-card round. As the Bills start OTAs, the goal now is to familiarize every player as the era of new head coach Joe Brady starts, as other players look to get fully healthy, like tight end Dalton Kincaid.
Kincaid has always been a major target for quarterback Josh Allen, but the past few years of a nagging knee injury have halted his production. After a torn PCL in 2024, Kincaid was advised by doctors not to get surgery, but it had not healed the way they hoped, as he went through more injuries in 2025, having played in 12 games.
The 26-year-old has once again been advised not to get surgery.
“After the season ended, I talked to a lot of doctors who know a lot more than I do regarding the PCL and everything that has to do with health, and they advised against it. So, believe them and that kind of went into setting a good foundation for strength around the need to support it…got plenty of opinions from people…great doctors, a bunch of team doctors around the league, and so I went with their suggestions and opinions,” Kincaid said, via Sal Capaccio.
Bills’ Dalton Kincaid hopes for a fully healthy season.
If there’s been any progression with the Bills’ tight end, it’s that he showed up to OTAs with no sleeve or brace on his knee, as Nick Sabato of The Niagara Gazette noted.
“I was at the point where I wanted to do surgery just because it’d been bothering me and everything for so long,” Kincaid said on Tuesday. “But after talking to doctors that know a lot more than I do in that field, they advised against it, and I just have to go with that.”
Kincaid would further talk about how he believes “time definitely heals” the injuries, especially after two years. It remains to be seen how Kincaid progresses and if this offseason will be key in limiting injuries.
