Bill Simmons has epic Terry Rozier proposal for Heat vs. Hornets NBA play-in game
The Miami Heat formally waived Terry Rozier as they prepare to take on the Charlotte Hornets in their first game of the play-in tournament. The veteran guard had not played a single game for the Heat this season after federal charges related to his involvement in an alleged illegal sports gambling scheme were filed against him.
The former Charlotte Hornets man is currently on indefinite leave, with Bill Simmons now proposing a stunning offer for the two teams ahead of their showdown, per a post on X by NBA Courtside.

“For Charlotte vs Miami, winner advances to the 8-9, loser has to take Terry Rozier back. He’s actually at the game hanging from the arena like how WWE does the Money in the Bank belt. Terry Rozier is just in a strap hanging from the arena and after the game gets lowered down and joins one of the two teams,” Simmons said, effectively claiming that the losing team should take on the 32-year-old.
The Heat acquired Rozier in January 2024 in a deal that sent Kyle Lowry and a first-round pick to Charlotte. Further, prosecutors have claimed Rozier provided inside information during his time with the Charlotte Hornets in 2023, including a game where he logged just 9 minutes and 34 seconds and fell under multiple statistical betting lines.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges that include conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, and his next court date is set for April 27. However, an independent arbitrator ruled that he must receive his full $26.6 million salary for the season, citing league rules that only allow unpaid leave in cases involving specific categories such as domestic or child abuse.
As a result, Rozier will be paid in full even after being waived, marking the final year of his four-year, $96.2 million contract. Thus, despite being waived, the Heat are still liable to pay his salary, with Simmons comparing the situation to the WWE’s ‘Money in the Bank belt.’ In this case however, it is the loser who receives the ‘belt.’
