Atlanta reunites Avieon Terrell with brother AJ at pick 48

The Atlanta Falcons made the 2026 NFL Draft one of the most heartwarming moments when they picked Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 48th overall pick. This brought him back together with his older brother and Falcons star A.J. Terrell in the same secondary.

As soon as the pick was made, A.J. hugged his younger brother tightly. For the Terrell family, this is a full-circle moment, both brothers went to Clemson, both did well in Dabo Swinney’s program, and now they will play together in the NFL.

At 21 years old, Avieon is 5-foot-11 and 184 pounds. He has a strong resume with the Tigers, just like his brother did before him. He was named to the first team of the All-ACC in 2025 and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. He had 48 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 9 passes defended in 12 starts.

He played in 31 straight games to end his college career, taking more than 1,800 snaps. His PFF coverage grades were 76.5, 77.7, and 76.9 over the course of his three seasons.

The pick is very valuable for Atlanta. Some boards thought Avieon might be a first-round pick, but a tweaked hamstring late in the pre-draft process hurt his stock. The Falcons jumped at No. 48 and got a player who PFF ranked as one of the top 20 cornerbacks in the country for run defense in each of the last two seasons.

With A.J. Terrell locked up through 2028 on an $81 million extension and now Avieon joining the fold, Atlanta has arguably the most dynamic cornerback tandem, and the most unique, in the entire NFL. The brotherhood bond between the two figures to translate seamlessly into on-field chemistry, giving Atlanta’s defensive backfield an elite foundation for years to come.
