As the New York Yankees were swept in the ALDS by the Tampa Bay Rays, ending in Game 3's 4-3 loss on Wednesday, there is no denying that a good chunk of fans have eyes on manager Aaron Boone after another disappointing finish. After the Yankees suffered the series loss, Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had two different expressions regarding Boone.
According to Jorge Castillo of ESPN, Judge and other players “spoke highly” of the manager, though Chisholm “appeared irritated” by the decision from Boone not to start him. Chisholm even said “no comment” many times when asked about the situation.
“Chisholm, however, appeared irritated by Boone's decision to not start him and Boone not communicating the decision with him before he saw the lineup card Wednesday, offering a ‘no comment' multiple times when asked about the situation,” Castillo wrote.
Whatever the feelings are after the loss, the emotions are fresh, as Judge even mentioned he is “hating every single moment” of the defeat, especially since he had to watch from the dugout due to the calf injury.
“Thinking about the whole year, thinking about missed opportunities in the season…Things that can be improved on, things I can improve on. Just hating every single moment of it so I don't forget,” Judge said.
Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. experienced booing from fans
Article Continues BelowLooking at Chisholm, he would be booed when coming in the game for the Yankees as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning; in the series against Tampa Bay, he went zero-for-eight with a walk.
“It doesn't [hurt],” Chisholm said about the booing. “It's just confusing because it's the playoffs, and we're trying to win games. So you're booing a guy that's playing, currently trying to help the team win. And I'm hearing boos instead of trying to hype guys up. But at the end of the day, it didn't hurt me because I've seen Aaron Judge get booed here, too. So, who am I? That's a three-time MVP.”
It remains to be seen how the Yankees look going into the offseason as they prepare for the 2027 season.
