MLB insider Bob Nightengale initially reported that the club was planning on starting Max Fried in Game 1 of the series, with Cam Schlittler getting the start in Game 2. However, manager Aaron Boone decided to do the exact opposite hours after Nightengale's claims.
Reports indicate that the Yankees officially announced that Schlittler will start in Game 1, while Fried will start in Game 2, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN. It's also said that if the Wild Card series gets to Game 3, then Gerrit Cole will start that contest.
