SAN DIEGO -- Catcher Gabriel Moreno was scratched from the D-backs lineup for their regular-season finale on Sunday against the Padres. The move comes two days after he was removed from Arizona's Friday game in the seventh inning with what manager Torey Lovullo said was a "tender" left hamstring.
Moreno had been in the lineup as the designated hitter, but he was replaced by Pavin Smith about an hour before first pitch.
The D-backs are still in contention for the final NL Wild Card berth, but the only way they can clinch the spot is with a win on Sunday and a Phillies loss against the Rays.

Moreno's bat in the lineup is key for the Diamondbacks, as he has carried their offense in the second half.
Moreno's batting average sits at .311, which leads the NL. He is ahead of Philadelphia's Luis Arraez, who has a .310 mark and is unlikely to play the rest of the regular season due to an ankle injury suffered on Thursday.
Moreno would be the first catcher to win an NL batting title since Buster Posey did it for the Giants in 2012.
