In case there was any doubt, Cody Rhodes will retire with WWE, as the “American Nightmare” has reportedly re-signed on a new contract.

During an interview with Flagrant, the “American Nightmare” said that he “just re-signed with WWE.” While he didn't specify the length of the deal, it will run until the time he calls it a career.

“I just re-signed with WWE, so I'll end my wrestling career [with WWE],” he revealed.

He noted that the current WWE landscape could extend his career, too. Rhodes noted that the company is allowing Superstars to do more side projects.

Rhodes also reiterated that he wasn't sure when he was going to “settle down” and retire. He does want to be involved in his kids' lives, and that is of the utmost importance to him.

Rhodes, 41, didn't say how long his new contract is, but he does appear to have his eyes set on a timeline for his retirement. He has done everything imaginable in the ring, and he is expanding his portfolio outside of it.

What he said on Flagrant is in line with his past comments. In November 2025, he said that his next contract would likely be his “last.” He just signed a new deal, and by all accounts, it sounds like it will run through the end of his career. Not long after those comments, the “American Nightmare” promised fans he was “just getting started.”

The “American Nightmare” will be seen as Guile in the Street Fighter movie, which comes out on Oct. 16. His longtime WWE rival, Roman Reigns, is also part of the stacked ensemble.

This is his second major movie role after appearing in The Naked Gun in 2025. Earlier in his career, he had a recurring role in the Stephen Amell-led Arrow series.
