Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski faces a new postseason assignment Wednesday as he takes the mound against the Tampa Bay Rays in World Series Game 5.

The 24-year-old can pitch the Brewers to their first championship after the Rays avoided a sweep with Tuesday’s 4-3, 12-inning victory.

The Brewers still hold a commanding 3-1 series lead entering Wednesday’s matchup at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Misiorowski earned the win in the series opener, holding the Rays to one run over five innings. He now gets a chance to clinch Milwaukee’s first World Series title before the series returns home.

Talkin’ Baseball spotlighted the distinction surrounding his latest assignment Wednesday on its official X account, formerly Twitter, sharing a graphic outlining his postseason history and the stakes for both teams.

For the first time, Misiorowski will start a postseason game that is not a series opener. His previous three playoff starts came in Game 1 against the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers and Rays.

The flame-throwing right-hander enters Wednesday 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 13 1/3 innings this postseason. Including three relief appearances in 2025, he owns a 2.13 career playoff ERA across six outings.

Manager Pat Murphy preserved Misiorowski for Game 5 rather than using him in relief during Tuesday’s extra innings.

The start comes on four days’ rest, marking just his seventh career start on that schedule.

Misiorowski finished the regular season 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA and 252 strikeouts in 174 2/3 innings.

The graphic also notes that Milwaukee has not lost back-to-back games since September 5-6 against the Cincinnati Reds.

A Brewers win clinches the championship, while a Rays victory would force a Game 6 on Friday.
