With the Tampa Bay Rays winning Game 4 of the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers in 12 innings, 4-3, the team extends the series, which brings questions about who the ball club will trot out to pitch. As the Rays look to keep extending the World Series, one pitcher that could be used again is star Drew Rasmussen, as he speaks on possibly pitching in Game 5 on Wednesday.
Speaking after the thrilling win for Tampa Bay, Rasmussen said that he feels “great” and expressed that he would “assume I'm in there” for Game 5, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN.
“I'm probably smoking hot, would be my guess. I mean, we haven't talked yet. I feel great. So, I'm sure they're going to kick around some ideas in there for a little bit, but I would assume I'm in there,” Rasmussen said.
The last time Rasmussen pitched was in Game 2 of the World Series, where he didn't have his best outing, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs and six hits, while striking out four batters and walking two.
“I thought early on my command wasn’t very good,” Rasmussen said after his rough outing, via Sports Illustrated. “I felt like I was falling behind far too often to expect good results. And then from there, they found themselves in some hitters’ counts and were able to find holes.”
The Rays believe they can “win four in a row” in the World Series
Article Continues BelowThe Rays would finally record one win in the World Series, but it was a grueling victory as after a Cooper Pratt home run for the Brewers in the top of the 12th inning, Tampa Bay would be a hit machine in the bottom of the 12th.
After Jonny DeLuca tied the game, Ben Williamson would get the RBI base hit to win the game, as pitcher Nick Martinez believes the Rays “can win four in a row,” via ESPN.
It remains to be seen if it can be done as Tampa Bay looks to continue to extend the World Series in Game 5, as fans await to see if Rasmussen pitches.
