With the Golden State Warriors coming off the win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday, 116-113, the team now prepares for what will be an emotional game against the Miami Heat on Thursday night against two critical players of their past. As the Warriors take on Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins with the Heat, head coach Steve Kerr would speak about seeing those players in different uniforms.
It isn't the first time Kerr will play the two in different uniforms, as Wiggins has been with Miami since the Jimmy Butler trade in 2024 and Thompson has been with the Dallas Mavericks the last two seasons, but it's still “strange nonetheless.” However, Kerr gets used to it and is reminded of the landscape of the NBA.
“Those first couple times are really bizarre, and then you get used to it. And it's a reminder that most of us in the NBA end up with multiple teams. It's so rare to play with one team,” Kerr said, via The Heat Central.
“You end up competing against friends and sometimes even family,” Kerr said. “But it'll be great to see both guys…two just incredible contributors to the Warriors' championships…both Klay [Thompson] and [Wiggins] are wonderful human beings and great teammates, and it'll be great.”
Steve Kerr on the Giannis vs Draymond matchup and the return of Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins:
“He (Dray) has a huge challenge with Giannis coming in. He’s exited about that. Draymond’s in a good place. — it’ll always be a little strange seeing those guys in different uniforms…… pic.twitter.com/xRHqLmhDZG

According to ClutchPoints' Tomer Azarly, Thompson said he will “soak” up the experience of returning to face his former team.
“The Warriors are playing real well,” Thompson said Wednesday. “It's going to be a good challenge…It's going to be awesome seeing all the guys I grew up with and just going to be a special night. I only get to go there once this season, so I'm going to soak it all up.”
It remains to be seen who ends up as the victor between Golden State and Miami on Thursday night.
