The New England Patriots are currently gearing up for their upcoming game at home against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The Patriots currently sit at 5-3 on the season, looking to recapture their dynastic days of yesteryear with Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and Rob Gronkowski at the helm.
Recently, Chad Graff of The Athletic published an article about the legendary tenure of Gronkowski in New England as the team prepares to induct him into its Hall of Fame.
Graff detailed Gronkowski's pre-draft meeting process, reporting that “Gronkowski showed up to his pre-draft meeting with the Patriots wearing wrinkled khakis. His shirt was untucked. First, he met with Bill Belichick. (Belichick declined to comment for this story.)”
Belichick is now the head coach at North Carolina, so it's not entirely surprising that he wouldn't make time in his busy schedule to speak to The Athletic about Gronkowski, but Patriots fans still might find the move a tad cold-hearted.
Meanwhile, Gronkowski himself spoke on his state of mind prior to the induction into the Patriots' Hall of Fame this weekend.
“I'm definitely going to be emotional. I'm going to have my whole entire family there, so many friends that I played with back in the day. I haven't seen them in so long. Just bringing up the memories, bringing up the good old times. Being in my 20s, being on the Patriots, those were the best days of my life,” he said, per Up & Adams on X, formerly Twitter.
Gronkowski is sure to get a hearty round of applause from the Patriots' faithful when he is inducted this weekend.
Meanwhile, kickoff for the Patriots' game against the Packers is set for Sunday at 4:25 pm ET.
