The Miami football program is currently gearing up for their upcoming showdown on the road against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, looking to hold onto the number one spot in the country. The Hurricanes recently learned that star wide receiver Malachi Toney would be out for this contest after undergoing surgery on his injured ankle.
However, the team did get some good news regarding the future of the wide receiver room on the recruiting trail.
“BREAKING: Five-Star WR Brysen Wright has Committed to Miami, he tells me for Rivals. The 6’4 210 WR chose the Hurricanes over Florida and Texas. Wright, the No. 1 WR in the 2028 Class, will reclassify to 2027,” reported Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports on X, formerly Twitter.
The reclassification to 2027 means that Wright will be teamed up with Toney in the Miami wide receiver room next year, giving the Hurricanes one of the most explosive skill position groups in all of the country.
It's certainly been an impressive last few years on the recruiting trail and on the field for Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal, who led his team to an appearance in the national championship game last season and very nearly knocked off the Indiana Hoosiers when he got there.
Article Continues BelowThis year, Miami remains undefeated, with Dorian Mensah establishing himself as a legit Heisman Trophy candidate at the quarterback position, and Toney continuing to be one of the most explosive weapons in the country, although he will be sidelined for a while with the recent injury.
In any case, the Hurricanes and Fighting Irish are slated to kick things off on Saturday at 7:30 pm ET from South Bend.
