The Golden State Warriors are less than a month away from kicking off their 2026-27 season. Expectations aren't exactly sky-high for the Warriors this year, as the team is returning essentially the exact same roster that won 37 games a year ago, headlined by the newly re-signed Stephen Curry.

Jimmy Butler missed the second half of last season after tearing his ACL, and recently, the star spoke about his expiring contract and what he might be looking for on his next deal.

“I've made a couple buckaroos in my years in the league, so it ain't even about money. To me, it's always going to be about winning. When you win, that contract stuff takes care of itself,” he said, per Danny Emerman of the San Francisco Standard on X, formerly Twitter.

It's unclear what kind of money Butler would be able to command regardless next year, considering that he will be well into his late 30s and coming off a torn ACL injury.

Prior to the injury, Butler looked strong with the Warriors, fitting in well with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, and having Golden State looking like one of the several teams on the tier just below the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference.

However, Golden State will likely play at least half of the upcoming season without the star as he continues his rehab process, and Curry has also dealt with some serious injury concerns over the last few years as he ages.

In any case, the Warriors are slated to kick off their new season on October 21 with a road game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
