The Seattle Mariners’ offseason overhaul did not stop with manager Dan Wilson. One day after announcing Wilson would not return in 2027, the club said bench coach Manny Acta, infield coach Perry Hill, hitting coach Kevin Seitzer, and first base coach Eric Young Jr. also will not be back.

“I will always have the utmost respect and appreciation for these men, each of whom made meaningful contributions to our team,” president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said in the team’s announcement. “After much reflection, we have determined that significant changes are required as we look toward 2027 and beyond.”
Article Continues BelowSeattle finished 76-86 and missed the playoffs a year after reaching Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. That drop was especially difficult to stomach in an AL West that the Houston Astros won with an 81-81 record. The Mariners had enough talent to enter the season with much higher expectations, but they never put together the consistency needed to return to October.
The departures reach across several parts of the staff. Acta had been with Seattle for more than a decade, while Hill had worked with the club’s infielders since 2019. Seitzer and Young joined the major league staff ahead of the 2025 season. Moving on from all four, along with Wilson, gives the Mariners room to reshape the dugout around their next manager.
That change comes for an organization whose expectations rose after last year’s deep playoff run. Dipoto and general manager Justin Hollander now face the bigger task: finding a manager and coaching group that can turn the Mariners’ talent back into a postseason team.
