The Cowboys have lost another safety to an injury that will keep him out for multiple weeks.
Executive vice president Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan on Monday that Jalen Thompson will miss about a month after injuring his hamstring in Sunday’s loss to the Ravens in Rio. The Cowboys have P.J. Locke on injured reserve already and Malik Hooker is recovering from a fractured forearm.
“The safety position is tough. We’ve been hit there, no question,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “And to the corner[back] spot as well, to the same degree. We’re very hopeful Hooker will have a shot this week. But, unfortunately, it does look like we’re gonna miss [Thompson] for some weeks, along with Locke. “That safety spot, we’ll definitely be looking to see if there’s a way to shore that up while those two [rehab]. They’re both looking at four-plus weeks of missing time.”
Defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard (calf) and cornerback Shavon Revel (knee) were also injured on Sunday and the team is waiting for more word about their outlook for the coming weeks.
