The New York Jets recently fell to 1-2 with a second straight narrow loss, this time on the road against the Detroit Lions. The Jets fought valiantly in this game, but ultimately couldn't get the stop they needed down the stretch in order to secure the win.
The Jets caught a tough break in this one when star running back Breece Hall exited with an apparent injury. However, thankfully, on Monday, the team got a positive update on his status moving forward.
“#Jets star RB Breece Hall, who suffered a quad injury in Sunday’s game, is considered week-to-week, per me and (ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter),” reported NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on X, formerly Twitter. “Hall received some good news after the MRI, as the injury isn’t as significant as feared.”
It's certainly a positive development for the Jets, who have played above expectations so far this year despite their 1-2 record. Hall is one of multiple talented skill position players on the offensive side of the ball for New York, along with wide receiver Garrett Wilson and others.
Meanwhile, quarterback Geno Smith has been able to mostly shake off his rough performance for the Las Vegas Raiders last year en route to a strong start to the season stat-wise.
While the Jets still have some work to do in terms of clock management and closing out games, the team has been more competitive than many expected up to this point.
New York will next hit the field on Sunday for a road game vs the Chicago Bears.
