After Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors' 120-100 win against the Miami Heat, the veteran big man mediated a tense moment between Bobby Portis and his teammate, Georges Niang. In Green's veteran role as the Warriors' starting center this season, he says Niang makes things easier for him on both ends of the floor, and he didn't mind the chippiness.

Green discussed Niang's role in his first season with the Warriors during his postgame media availability, per ESPN's Anthony Slater.

“I love that type of energy, by the way. Did you see me walk up to Bobby Portis and put my shoulder on his chest, or did I do like this? It was a de-escalation, right? So it looked a little different. Alright, well at least we got an understanding there,” Green said. “Georges has been incredible for us. The way he shoots the basketball. Crazy thing is: he hasn't even shot it at the level that he shoots the ball at.

“Yet, the impact that he's had on this team on every aspect of the game; he's so smart. And he's fiery. He's been great for us. What an addition. That's one of those signings that people look at, like aww man, then, you look up, and you can’t keep him off the floor.”

Warriors veteran Draymond Green appreciates Georges Niang's approach in his first season with Golden State.

“He's been absolutely incredible for us. I love being his teammate,” Green added. “I'll be honest, at times, I do some random s*** out there, especially on the defensive end. But even on the offensive end, I do some random s*** at times, and he just picks up on it. He'll fill the spot. He'll plug. I'm looking to do some wild s*** and he'll cut. He just knows what to do. So, really fun player to play with.”

“He actually said that his outfit looked better than mine. And then I was like, ‘Well, no mine looks better than yours.’ And we went back and forth,” Niang said. “I mean, do you really want to know what we said to each other?”

Niang is averaging 7.9 points and 3.1 rebounds this season. The Warriors are on a six-game winning streak.
