Trade rumors are already brewing around the Orlando Magic as the club has had an incredibly cold start to the 2026-27 season. Wendell Carter Jr. is one name already being floated around the rumor mill, especially if the club keeps spiraling.
Rumors suggest that teams are already monitoring the 27-year-old's availability come the trade deadline, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel. However, Siegel pegs the Golden State Warriors as a possible suitor for Carter in his reporting.
“Many teams around the league are continuing to keep a close eye on the Magic and if they potentially become big sellers this trade cycle,” Siegel posted on X. “Although it’s still too early to tell, Wendell Carter Jr. is a name teams are monitoring, and he could be exactly what the Warriors need.”
In his latest column for ClutchPoints, Siegel states that if the Magic do plan on trading Carter, the nine-year veteran would be considered an ideal fit for the Warriors. Other teams may come calling for Carter, but we won't know more until the season progresses.
“The Warriors are open to taking on longer contracts in a potential Porzingis trade, and Carter is currently under contract through the 2028-29 season, where he has a near $21 million team option,” Siegel wrote…

Through eight games played so far this season, Carter is averaging 14.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He's hitting those numbers while shooting 65.6% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the three-point line.
