Skip Bayless is over the moon to have Joey Porter Jr. on the Dallas Cowboys roster for the rest of the 2026 NFL season.
Porter began the season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, sitting out team drills amid a contract dispute over an extension. He missed the first three games of the campaign as Pittsburgh ended up trading him to Dallas for a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 sixth-round pick on Sept. 30.
Bayless provided his thoughts on the addition during an appearance on the Gridiron show with Aqib Talib. The latter gave the trade an A grade, as Bayless followed it up with an A- grade.
“You went and got a guy. You got a talent, you got a difference maker at a position that is a difference making position. He's a lockdown press man corner who can play outside. Obviously, we are decimated in the secondary right now, and I'm not sure our corners were very good to start with. Going into this season, Pro Football Focus projected Joey Porter Jr. as one of their top 10 potential breakout performers to make All-Pro this year. All I know is right now in the locker room, they're looking at each other like, ‘man, maybe we do have a chance,'” Bayless said.

What lies ahead for Joey Porter Jr., Cowboys
The Cowboys need all the help they can get on defense, especially after landing Joey Porter Jr. They yearn for playoff contention, knowing that doing well on that side of the ball will be crucial.
Porter presents high upside in Year 4, being a standout corner for Pittsburgh his first three years there. Last season saw him record 52 tackles, 14 pass deflections, one sack, and an interception throughout 14 games.
