Packers tight end Tucker Kraft’s return from last season’s torn ACL hasn’t been without its bumps.
Kraft caught his first touchdown of the season in last Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers, but he also failed to reel in another Jordan Love pass that would have points on the board for the Packers. The drop was not the anomaly that it would have been in past seasons.
Kraft has been credited with five dropped passes through four weeks, which matches his highest total for an entire season.
“I think I’m just trying to do too much,” Kraft said, via Steve Megaree of the Associated Press. “Offensively, we might get into a lull, and I think I can make the game-saving play right there. I’m taking my eyes off the ball. Can’t do anything without the ball, so I’m just going to slow down and play my role. Catch the football.”
Kraft’s play prior to the injury earned him a long-term deal before the season and he said his “goal is always to ascend” beyond where he was in the past. Kraft noted that starts with catching the ball and the hope in Green Bay is that he’ll be doing that with fewer issues over the rest of the season.
