There seemed to be trouble in Monday Night Football paradise before the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills faced off, and it wasn't between the two teams. It actually involved Troy Aikman and Joe Buck, as the two reportedly got into a heated conversation. Aikman apparently started the conversation when he found out that Buck was signing a new deal with ESPN, but he hadn't receieved anything from the company.
Days later, Aikman was asked about the reported conversation, and he didn't want to shed light on what happened.
“There’s probably a time and a place for all that,” Aikman said via Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News. “I don’t know if now is the time. I don’t know if it’s hard to figure out kind of what happened. I’ll broadcast through this season, and I’ll be a free agent at the end of the year and kind of see what happens.
“I’m looking forward to whatever the rest of this season does hold and the Super Bowl and all that and where my next landing spot may be.”
Article Continues BelowAikman doesn't sound like a person who's going to be with ESPN beyond this season, and him talking about his next landing spot should say it all. That leaves a lot of uncertainty surrounding who will be next to Buck calling the games in the future. Aikman and Buck have been broadcast partners for over 20 years.
There is still time for the company to offer Aikman a deal, but at this point, it's hard to tell if he'd accept anything from them.
