MINNEAPOLIS — Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is expected to miss multiple months with an arthroscopic knee procedure that will address lingering knee pain that dated back to last season.
While Edwards has dealt with said knee pain, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly noted that a procedure of this nature was not deemed necessary over the summer, as the club and star opted for rest and recovery in lieu at the time.
“The imaging has changed,” said the Timberwolves front office leader, who met with the media at shootaround this morning. “The most recent imaging … we’ve had a bunch of imaging going back to this summer. And it changed after yesterday.”

The news came as a shock to many, as though Edwards was seen grabbing his knee several times throughout his last game against Cleveland, he was still incredibly effective while playing through pain, going for 47 points on 34 shots.

We want to make sure we’re putting him in the best position he can be so he can be the best version he’s going to be for a long time.”
Connelly noted that there is no timeline set in stone at the moment, and that Edwards is expected to undergo the procedure on Thursday.
“I think there was a little proof of concept last year in the playoffs when we were able to play without Ant,” said Connelly. “We have great depth at that possession. And we’re constantly adding depth.”
