Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter rejected the possibility of selling the franchise, addressing speculation about its future after unloading other sports investments.
His comments followed months of questions surrounding his ownership and a federal investigation into businesses within his financial empire.
Walter said his sale of his Los Angeles Lakers stake had nothing to do with the Dodgers, separating that transaction from his plans for the baseball team.
The remarks also came after Los Angeles’ season ended with a National League Championship Series sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers.
In an interview with the California Post’s Jack Harris, Walter reaffirmed his intention to retain the club and continue pursuing championships.
“We’re going to keep the team no matter what,” he said. “We’re going to be winning for 10 years or more. I think our commitment to do so will be just like it has been in the past. And, you know, we don’t win every year, but we’re going to try to.”
Walter helped lead the Guggenheim Baseball Management group that bought the Dodgers for $2.15 billion in 2012. He owns roughly 27 percent of the franchise.
Under that ownership, Los Angeles won World Series championships in 2020, 2024 and 2025. This year’s NLCS defeat ended its pursuit of a third consecutive title.
The ownership questions intensified after the federal investigation became public in July. Walter subsequently sold his Lakers stake to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger at a $12.5 billion valuation.

Dodgers president Stan Kasten twice denied a sale during the season. TWG Global likewise said the franchise was not for sale and that no sale process had begun.
Walter declined to discuss the investigation into his insurance companies, Delaware Life and Clear Springs Life and Annuity.
His comments leave the Dodgers preparing for another season under the same ownership.
