Terence Crawford has made a lot of money boxing. That part isn't exactly a secret.
But what Crawford has done with that money might be more interesting than how much he made in the first place.
While plenty of athletes have managed to turn massive paydays into massive spending habits, Crawford has reportedly taken a very different approach. Real estate, stocks, luxury watches and long-term sponsorships have all become part of the undefeated boxer's financial portfolio.
And apparently, Crawford isn't trying to live like every dollar needs to be spent just because he has it.
Crawford Has Built A Real Estate Portfolio
The biggest piece of Crawford's investment strategy appears to be real estate.
According to reports, the Omaha native owns nearly 80 properties, including residential and commercial real estate across multiple U.S. cities. More than 40 of those properties are reportedly residential, with Crawford owning six residential complexes along with retail and office spaces.
Even more interesting is how Crawford reportedly purchased many of them.
Rather than taking out traditional mortgages, Crawford has reportedly bought his properties with cash. He's also looking to expand his real estate portfolio, including potentially adding more properties in Las Vegas.
Crawford has also put some serious money into his own home. The boxer reportedly owns a $3 million mansion in Omaha, where he continues to live.
For someone whose career has been built around traveling the world to fight, Crawford clearly hasn't forgotten where he came from.
He Even Asked Warren Buffett For Advice
Here's where the story gets a little more interesting.
Crawford reportedly once consulted Warren Buffett about investing. The connection makes sense considering both men are from Omaha, and Buffett is one of the most famous investors in the world.
Crawford has also spoken about not wanting to take unnecessary risks with his money. His stock investments aren't as publicly documented as his real estate holdings, but his approach appears to be fairly conservative.
Basically, Crawford doesn't seem interested in turning his boxing fortune into one giant gamble. And honestly, that's probably the point.
Then There's The Watch Collection
Of course, this is still a boxer we're talking about.
Crawford reportedly has a luxury watch collection worth around $1 million, featuring multiple Rolex models and other high-end brands.
That's a pretty expensive collection, but Crawford has reportedly viewed his watches as investments rather than simply things to wear.
It's also one of the few areas where Crawford appears willing to have a little fun with his money. The rest of his portfolio is a lot more boring.
And that's probably a good thing.
Crawford's Money Doesn't Stop With Boxing
Real estate and stocks aren't the only ways Crawford continues to make money.
The former undisputed champion has several major sponsorship deals, with reports estimating that his partnerships bring in roughly $2 million per year combined.
Those deals have included brands and organizations such as Crown Casino, Riyadh Season, Everlast, Prime Hydration and SNAC Nutrition.
That means even after the gloves eventually come off for good, Crawford has multiple sources of income that have nothing to do with stepping into a boxing ring.
And considering the money involved in modern boxing, that's a pretty important distinction.
Crawford Still Says He's Careful With His Money
Perhaps the most surprising part of all of this is how Crawford reportedly behaves despite having millions in the bank.
He's said that he still flies economy class, negotiates over smaller purchases and avoids spending money on things that won't provide some sort of return in the future.
That's a pretty different mindset from the stereotype of the professional athlete who gets a massive contract and immediately starts spending like the money will never run out.
Crawford has already made enough money that he doesn't have to think about every purchase. Apparently, he still does.
His total net worth is currently estimated at around $50 million, although exact figures are difficult to verify because Crawford's private investments and property holdings aren't fully public.
Either way, the bigger story isn't necessarily the $50 million number.
It's that Crawford appears to have understood something a lot of athletes learn the hard way: making the money is only half the job. Keeping it is another story entirely.
