Some people really do not like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka the MCU, like actor Nicolas Cage, who recently compared it to the professional wrestling promotion WWE.
During an appearance at Fan Expo Dallas (via The Playlist), he took aim at the “otherwise intelligent and remarkably gifted” actors who choose to star in MCU projects. He compared their work in their “ridiculous outfits” to a “well-funded and glorified WWE.”
“I do say this with love,” Cage said. “ When I see these 50+, otherwise intelligent, remarkably gifted thespians putting on these ridiculous outfits and getting ready for the fight, let’s face it, cutting all to the fight, it’s hard for me not to be reminded that the MCU is becoming a well-funded and glorified WWE.”
Was Nicolas Cage ever in the MCU?

Cage hasn't been and likely will never be part of the MCU. However, he previously starred in two Ghost Rider movies in the title role.
Article Continues BelowAdditionally, he just starred in the Spider-Noir series for MGM+ and Prime Video. The eight-episode series was recently canceled after one season.
The Spider-Noir series was not part of the MCU. It is part of Sony's Spider-Man offshoot cinematic universe. Despite earning several Emmy nominations, it doesn't look like its story will ever be continued.
While not a particular fan of the MCU, Cage has starred in several franchise projects. He led two National Treasure movies and will star in the third.
Recently, he has had a career resurgence of sorts. Over the last couple of years, he has starred in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Renfield, Longlegs, and The Carpenter's Son.
Coming up, he will star as NFL legend John Madden in the biopic. Madden will be released on Prime Video on Nov. 11, right before Thanksgiving.
