On Sunday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys picked up a big road win over the Houston Texans to push their record to 2-2 on the young 2026 NFL season. The Cowboys found themselves in a similar position as last week, down three with under a minute to go, but this time, instead of tying the game, Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb in the end zone, and Dallas wound up winning.
After the game, Cowboys executive Stephen Jones spoke on his confidence in head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
“Absolutely,” he said, when asked if he thought Schottenheimer could get the Cowboys to a Super Bowl. “He’s got a sneaky resume in terms of having a lot of history in this league. … We certainly feel like he can get the job done. He’s got a lot of confidence. He’s very authentic.

I think his staff has a lot of confidence in him. … And I can tell you I know Jerry, myself, our family and the organization have a lot of confidence in him,” he said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic, via 105.3 The FAN.
Schottenheimer certainly seems to have earned the respect of the players and suits in the Cowboys' organization, but the jury is still out for many fans and pundits, as Dallas failed to make the playoffs last year and has looked shaky at best this year, with their two wins coming over teams with a combined one victory on the season.
In any case, the Cowboys have a short week coming up as they prepare for a game against another winless opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on Thursday night. Kickoff for that game is set for 8:15 pm ET from Dallas.
