Despite all of the trade rumors surrounding Sacramento Kings’ Domantas Sabonis, he’s committed to sticking around as the team rebuilds. After one Kings insider was forced to refute a trade centered on Sabonis and the Charlotte Hornets, the veteran forward set the record straight ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Sabonis says he’s not looking to leave the Kings anytime soon, while pointing toward his strong connection with GM Scott Perry, per Eurohoops.net.
“A lot of things are being said out there, but I have a great relationship with [Kings GM Scott Perry]. I have great agents,” Sabonis said. “I know everything that’s going on. And I’m excited I’m here. It’s all made up. I don’t know where you guys get most of it from.”

After a torn meniscus derailed his 2025-26 season, Sabonis has been cleared to play following knee surgery in February. He averaged 15.8 points on 54.3% shooting, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 19 appearances last season.

Although Kings veteran Domantas Sabonis dismissed the trade rumors, it’s difficult to ignore his value on the trade market this upcoming season. Before the Pistons finally reached an agreement with All-Star Jalen Duren, a potential Kings target, a sign-and-trade involving Sabonis was reported as a possible move.
Still, Sabonis’ name could come up again ahead of the 2026-27 trade deadline, according to The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer.
“The Kings have been maintaining that they view that Domantas Sabonis has positive trade value, that they would need a draft pick to come back in a deal, which I just don’t think is plausible right now,” he said.
Sabonis, who agreed to a four-year, $186 million extension, has two years left on his fully guaranteed contract, with $45.4 million and $48.6 million owed for the upcoming 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.
