The Pittsburgh Steelers are still searching for their first back-to-back wins of the season. Meanwhile, the team’s cornerback situation has quickly emerged as a major concern following the trade of Joey Porter Jr. Despite the uncertainty at the position, defensive coordinator Patrick Graham does not appear interested in moving Jalen Ramsey back to outside cornerback.

When asked whether Ramsey could potentially help the Steelers at cornerback, Graham said that he prefers the veteran defensive back in his current role.

“I like what he's doing right now. That safety, that ‘star' spot, that's exactly where we want him,” Graham said via Steelers beat reporter Nick Farabaugh.

Pittsburgh entered the season believing it had enough depth at cornerback, with Porter and Jamel Dean expected to provide stability on the outside. However, that plan has quickly fallen apart.

The Steelers recently traded Porter to the Dallas Cowboys. Meanwhile, Dean suffered an ankle injury during the team's 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

That left Pittsburgh with Asante Samuel Jr. and Daylen Everette as its primary healthy outside cornerback options. However, both players have failed to show much promising performance so far.

As a result, with Pittsburgh suddenly dealing with considerable uncertainty at cornerback, Ramsey naturally emerged as a potential solution.

The veteran would undoubtedly provide experience and talent on the outside, but the Steelers may believe that moving him permanently to cornerback could fix one weakness while simultaneously creating another issue elsewhere in the secondary.

The 31-year-old has already shown that he can contribute from multiple positions, and Pittsburgh has benefited from his ability to operate as a versatile defensive piece. Through four games this season, Ramsey has recorded 18 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection.
