On Sunday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 4-2 on the 2026 NFL season with a narrow overtime road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It wasn't a virtuoso performance from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but the aging veteran did just enough down the stretch to help get the game into overtime, where the Steelers eventually won.
Rodgers has been around for quite a while, and he shared a hilarious moment with Buccaneers rookie Josiah Trotter demonstrating that fact on Sunday.
Trotter's father is Jeremiah Trotter Sr. who spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles but also played with the Buccaneers during his career. Meanwhile, the younger Trotter has gotten off to a strong start to his own career in Tampa Bay.
It's certainly a rare sight to see an NFL player match up against two generations of the same family over the course of their career. LeBron James has had a similar experience on multiple occasions in the NBA, and it speaks to the longevity of Rodgers that he's stuck around long enough to see his former rivals' children now become his new opponents.
While Rodgers isn't the same player he was when he lined up against Jeremiah Trotter Sr., he's still had some strong moments for the Steelers this year, who once again have gotten off to a solid start to the season.
Steelers fans are hoping that this season deviates from their familiar script of starting out hot, tapering off down the stretch, and then getting blasted in the Wild Card round, as has been the case for multiple consecutive seasons.
The Steelers will next hit the field on Sunday with a game against the New Orleans Saints in Paris.
