Sonny Styles wins first NFC defensive player of the week award

For the first time since 2020, a Washington player has earned NFC defensive player of the week.

Commanders linebacker Sonny Styles earned the honor for his performance in the club’s victory over the Seahawks.

Styles finished the contest with five total tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, a QB hit, and two passes defensed in the win. He was the NFC’s only player to record a pick, a forced fumble, and multiple passes defensed in Week 3.

Styles is the first rookie to earn NFC defensive player of the week since 2024. He’s the first Washington linebacker to win the award since Keenan Robinson in 2014.
