The San Jose Sharks have opened the season at 2-1-0. The team lost its last time out, falling to the Dallas Stars 5-0. In that game, Sharks star Macklin Celebrini was out of the lineup due to an injury.
Now, there is an update on his playing status, per hockey insider Elliotte Friedman.
“Officially a game-time decision vs STL,” Friedman posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Celebrini was on the ice on Thursday morning as part of the morning skate ahead of their game with the St. Louis Blues.
Celebrini has already become a star in the NHL, despite playing in just his third season and being only 20 years old. He was the first overall selection in the 2024 NHL Draft by the Sharks. Celebrini broke into the NHL that year. In the 2024-25 season, he played in 70 games, finding the back of the net 25 times while adding 38 assists. Then, Celebrini broke out in 2025-26. The 2026 EA Sports NHL cover athlete scored 45 goals while adding 70 assists, and played in all 82 games.
Celebrini picked up where he left off this year. In the first two games of the year, Celebrini has already amassed five assists.
