The Carolina Hurricanes extended their winning streak to three games with a commanding 7-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Lenovo Center on Thursday night.

Following the team's first home victory of the season, defenseman Sean Walker struck a confident tone about Carolina's improving performance.

Walker credited the Hurricanes' recent progress to their growing ability to return to their preferred style of hockey after opening the season with two consecutive defeats.

“It was great,” said Walker. “I think you're seeing every game we're getting closer and closer back to our style of play and how we wanted to be starting the year, but obviously it wasn't like that. These last couple games have been more Hurricanes hockey, and when we do that, we’re really hard to play against.”

Carolina's performance against Vancouver supported that assessment, with Logan Stankoven recording the first hat trick of his NHL career and Andrei Svechnikov scoring twice on the power play.

K'Andre Miller opened the scoring just 1:18 into the contest before Svechnikov found the net twice during the first period, giving the Hurricanes a 3-0 advantage. Mark Jankowski added another goal early in the second period.

Stankoven then scored three consecutive goals, including a shorthanded strike, a power-play finish and an even-strength goal in the third period. His final tally brought his career NHL points total to 100.

The performance also placed Stankoven in an exclusive group. He became the fourth player in franchise history to produce a hat trick featuring an even-strength goal, a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal in the same game. The achievement marked the NHL's 15th natural hat trick of that combination, with Bo Horvat having accomplished it on October 16, 2025, as the only other player to do so in the previous five seasons.

Walker also came up big, collecting four assists for the first four-point game of his career. Jackson Blake, Shayne Gostisbehere and Taylor Hall each finished with two assists.

Svechnikov stretched his point streak to four games, accumulating three goals and three assists during that period. Sebastian Aho also maintained a four-game point streak, racking up four goals and four assists.

Carolina converted all three power-play opportunities, while the Canucks went scoreless on four chances. Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 18 of 20 shots as the Hurricanes improved to 3-1-1.
