UFC star Sean Strickland has expressed his displeasure with his current contract and teased a jump to Jake Paul's MVP. Just days after being in a car accident, the UFC middleweight champion mused about that possibility on social media.
“I gotta be honest unless things change with the UFC Im kinda over it. McGregor makes 30 million to fight for 30 second and they dont want to pay us a fraction of it. Contemplating just going to 205 knocking out my contract and scrapping with [Jake Paul]. That sounds fun,” Strickland wrote.
Paul, 29, recently expressed interest in fighting MMA and has said he expects it to happen in 2027. However, he has not resumed training since suffering a broken jaw and undergoing surgery following his fight against Anthony Joshua last year.
“The thought of just giving up my belt going to 205 and speed running my contract to fight Jake and make what these guys are making sounds pretty damn appealing,” Strickland further wrote on X while indiciating joining Paul in the 205lbs weight category.
Shortly after, Paul also responded on social media and wrote, “If you want your fair share call MVP when you are free.” Paul is co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, which recently merged with Professional Fighters League.

“Sean Strickland I see your texts but are you out of contract? Tell your ‘promoter' to call MVP,” Paul further wrote. While Strickland dissed back and commented, “No insult to you but I'm shocked you would actually box me. Woodley I get but me is impressive.” Despite the back-and-forth, there has been no confirmation regarding Strickland's UFC contract status or him joining MVP/PFL.
