Coach Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks battled the Bears in a prime time Monday Night Football matchup that saw Jaxon Smith-Njigba burn the defense for a huge TD. New Bears trade addition Jeffrey Simmons fired an opening shot across the bow as he sacked Seahawks QB Sam Darnold, setting the tone early in a hard-hitting game.

The game took its toll on Seahawks defensive tackle Leonard Williams as he exited with a stinger. He got a status update that was posted to the team's official PR account.

“Injury update: DT Leonard Williams is questionable (stinger),” the Seahawks' page wrote.

Williams is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound former first round draft pick of the New York Jets who has helped hold down the fort this season for coach Macdonald's team in the middle of the Seahawks' defense. He has 15 tackles and three sacks so far this season.

The Seahawks' defense struggled to hold the Bears' Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson-led attack down, even with the hometown crowd behind them at Lumen Field in the Pacific Northwest.

A five-yard D'Andre Swift rushing touchdown at the 8:28 mark of the fourth quarter gave the Bears a 27-17 lead that looked like a monstrous hill to climb for Darnold and the Seahawks late.

The Seahawks attempted to counter the Bears' high-powered attack with balance, but rookie running back Jadarian Price, who was activated before the game, had just 26 yards on eight carries as of the fourth quarter.

Williams' return remained up in the air as Macdonald's squad attempted to claw its way back. Fans united behind Seattle for a chance at redemption, but it looked like a tough row to hoe as the game continued on Monday Night Football.
