Scottie Scheffler can finally laugh about one of the most bizarre (if not the most) moments of his career.
More than two years have passed since Scheffler was arrested outside Valhalla Golf Club before the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship. What initially sounded like an unbelievable story became considerably more serious when Scheffler was charged with four offenses, including felony second-degree assault of a police officer.
All four charges were eventually dismissed with prejudice after prosecutors determined there wasn't enough evidence to move forward.
Now, Scheffler's friends and fellow golfers apparently aren't letting him forget about it.
When asked recently on PardonMyTake whether enough time had passed for him to look back and think about how crazy the entire situation was, Scheffler revealed that Sam Burns is still having some fun at his expense.

“People always joke that I got arrested,” Scheffler said. “But I didn't just get arrested; I got charged with assaulting a police officer. Sam (Burns) actually wore a t-shirt of my mugshot to the clubhouse last night. The joke continues.”
“I got charged with a very, very serious crime.”
It's certainly easier to laugh about now. The incident became one of the most surreal stories in recent golf history, especially considering Scheffler returned to Valhalla after being released and shot a 5-under 66 that same day. He eventually finished tied for eighth at the PGA Championship.
More than two years later, Scheffler remains firmly atop the golf world, and the arrest has instead become something his friends can joke about.
