The Baltimore Ravens recently opted to shake things up by trading for quarterback Jacoby Brissett of the Arizona Cardinals. The move comes amid the Ravens' turbulence at the position of late, with both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley going down with injuries in Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Now, the Ravens have made another move at the quarterback position, in addition to other roster transactions.
“We have signed QB Austin Reed to the 53-man roster and placed QBs Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley on injured reserve. We have also elevated OLB Adisa Isaac and kicker Jake Moody from the practice squad (standard elevations) for tonight’s game,” reported the Ravens' official team account on X, formerly Twitter.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network later reported on X that “Austin Reed will be the backup tonight, with Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley on IR.”
Starting for the Ravens on Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars will be Joe Fagnano, who finished the game on Sunday in Buffalo in what turned out to be a blowout loss.
However, Brissett is expected to get the starting job going forward once the trade is finalized later on, as he recently lost his starting job in Arizona to Gardner Minshew after the latter's excellent game vs the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend.
The Ravens currently sit at 4-4 on the season, and the hope is that Brissett will be able to keep the team above water while they hope for good news on the Jackson front.
In any case, the Ravens will next hit the field on Thursday evening at home against the Jaguars, with kickoff set for 8:15 pm ET.
