Dak Prescott just dropped a candid quote hinting at how things are going on the offensive side of the ball for the Dallas Cowboys.

Asked on Thursday about the identity of the Cowboys on offense, Prescott responded with an intriguing line.

“Yeah sure, I mean, is it one we're proud of? I don't know,” the former Mississippi State Bulldogs star quarterback replied, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

The Cowboys have one of the most prolific offenses in the league through eight weeks of action in the 2026 NFL season. They enter Week 9 seventh in the league with 27.4 points per game. However, they are just 13th with an average of 342.0 total yards per contest.

Prescott didn't seem to reveal what exactly the identity was he was talking about, but there surely is a lot to be improved on the team's attack. For one, the Cowboys are averaging only 94.1 rushing yards per game. Only seven teams average fewer yards on the ground this season than Dallas, but it's also worth noting that the Cowboys are fifth with 1.25 rushing scores per outing.

The Cowboys are coming off an extremely disappointing loss in Week 8 to Gardner Minshew II and the Arizona Cardinals in Arlington. Dallas wasted a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter in a 33-30 overtime defeat to the visiting Cardinals, with the Cowboys unable to score in their overtime drive.

Prescott and the 3-5 Cowboys will look to bounce back on Sunday, when they play the careening Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
