With the Minnesota Vikings going up against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the starting quarterback for the game won't be Kyler Murray, who's dealing with a hamstring injury, as Carson Wentz will get another start this season. As the Vikings prepare to start Wentz against the Bills, head coach Kevin O'Connell would speak on what to expect from the contest.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, O'Connell expressed the comfort he has with Wentz as the starting quarterback, saying that he believes Minnesota will “get really good quarterback play.”

“My expectation is that Carson (Wentz) is going to play really well. Because we've called on him multiple times, and he's stepped in. We've had production when that's happened,” O'Connell said, via Alec Lewis.

Wentz has appeared in two games for the Vikings this season, helping the team to two wins earlier in the season when Murray had been dealing with other injuries. According to Mike Garafolo, Murray's hamstring injury doesn't appear to be long-term, saying that “it’s not much more than a week-to-week kind of thing,” further saying that an injured reserve stint for the former Arizona Cardinal is “not under consideration at all.”

“Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell says Carson Wentz gets the start for the Vikings this week. For Kyler Murray, ‘it’s not much more than a week-to-week kind of thing' with his hamstring, but they don’t want to risk making it worse,” Garafolo wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“O’Connell asked IR is a possibility for Kyler Murray: ‘It’s not under consideration at all,'” Garafolo continued.

At any rate, Minnesota looks to Wentz to keep the ship afloat in primetime on Monday night against the Bills.
