Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee addressed his benching Thursday as Joe Milton prepares to take over against the New York Giants in Week 9.

The change comes with Philadelphia at 2-6 after six consecutive losses. McKee started the last three games, with the Eagles falling to the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.

SPORTSRADIO 94WIP's Dave Uram shared footage Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, of McKee discussing his reaction with reporters ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

“What was my reaction? Obviously, as a competitor, would love to be out there as much as I can. I think when things happen that are unfortunate, you got to control what you can control, and you have to look inward, think of you know what what can I do moving forward to better myself, better the team, and so that's that's the approach that I'm going to have, and that's the approach that I took.”

McKee completed 72 of 114 passes for 638 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions across his three starts. Philadelphia scored 45 combined points in those games, averaging 15 per contest.

The 26-year-old became the starter after Jalen Hurts was lost for the season with blood clots. The Eagles selected McKee in the sixth round out of Stanford in 2023.

McKee acknowledged that he wants to play but said he would focus on what he can control, including improving his own performance and helping the Eagles.

Milton joined the Eagles on October 16 when the Eagles signed him off Dallas’ practice squad. The New England Patriots originally drafted him in the sixth round in 2024.

If he throws a pass Sunday, Milton would become Philadelphia’s fourth passer this season, following Hurts, Andy Dalton and McKee.

Milton will start vs. the Giants, while McKee focuses on improving his game and helping the Eagles through the quarterback change.
