The New York Rangers traded Vincent Trocheck to the Utah Mammoth in the summer. It was a long time coming, as Trocheck had been mentioned in trade rumors for quite some time. Still, the veteran forward spent a lot of time with the Rangers, so the emotions were certainly running high on Sunday night.

Trocheck returned to Madison Square Garden with the Mammoth as a visitor. As players were being introduced, the fans used the opportunity to show their gratitude toward Trocheck for all he did with the Rangers. During the game, the team honored him on its video board. This drew another standing ovation.

Trocheck did not factor in offensively for the Mammoth in this game. In the end, Utah was not able to give its veteran star a victorious return to his old stomping grounds. The Rangers came away with a big 4-2 victory on home ice, their third win of the season.

Trocheck spent the past four seasons with the Rangers. He helped the team make the Eastern Conference Finals in 2024. He established himself as a highly effective two-way player. Trocheck enjoyed his most productive season in New York, scoring 77 points in 2023-24.

He has had a bit of a slow start with the Mammoth, though. He recorded an assist in Utah's season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks. That has been it for his production through the very early stages of this season, though.

The Rangers celebrated Trocheck's time in New York. And they will celebrate a win as well. New York will go again on Tuesday night against Matthew Schaefer and the New York Islanders.
