The Los Angeles Rams are currently gearing up for their upcoming game on the road vs the Washington Commanders. The Rams are coming off a dominant home win over the spiraling Los Angeles Chargers, one in which they held the Chargers' offense to just nine points on the afternoon.
Now, Rams safety Quentin Lake has given his glowing review of how the defense was able to affect Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in this one.
“I mean, he was throwing deli meat out there. He’s seeing ghosts, I’m not gonna lie. We knew we were gonna get a couple,” he said, per the St. Brown Podcast, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
Herbert indeed struggled to produce much of anything against the Rams on Sunday, tossing a couple of interceptions and overall not finding any kind of rhythm. The Chargers remain the only team in the NFL without a win this season, a far cry from the playoff expectations they had coming into the year with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
Meanwhile, the Rams are slowly but surely rounding into form, now sitting at an even 4-4 on the season and looking to go on a run up the standings in the second half of the year. The defense in particular has performed well over the last couple of weeks, and Lake has been a big reason why, continuing to establish himself as one of the best in the league at his position.
If the Rams can get players like Myles Garrett and Davante Adams back from injury sooner rather than later, they could finally end up being the force to be reckoned with that so many expected of them this year.
