San Diego Padres right-hander Michael King will remain available for Wednesday’s NLDS Game 4 against the Milwaukee Brewers despite throwing 40 pitches in relief one night earlier.

King recorded a six-out save in Tuesday’s 4-3 victory at Petco Park, helping San Diego avoid elimination after starting Game 2 two days earlier. He threw 72 pitches over five innings in that outing, giving him 112 pitches across a three-day span with only Monday off.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale took to X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday with manager Craig Stammen’s latest update on King’s availability as the Padres try to force a decisive Game 5.
